This is not "pump action" as the forestock does not move; all the compressive force required to launch the dart comes from the lever action (forward pull compresses the spring). The designers faced a compromise, more power would have required a harder pull, which might make it difficult for kids less than 8-9. An easier pull would limit its range, which is decent but not outstanding. As it is, the action requires sufficient force that the designers wisely made the lever out of metal, not plastic. Loading the cartridges one by one against the spring tension into the box magazine, sliding it into the receiver, cycling the action and having the empty shell forcefully eject, followed by the smooth loading of the new cartridge, is all quite satisfying. In a pinch you can be... Here is why, with nerf products you don't get any realism. They are great for just shooting and that is it and usually if you want realism then you have to spend 200+ dollar on a pellet gun and then buy the Co2 tanks. You can buy a cap gun for around 50$ and get realism but you lose out on shooting factor. This gives you both a realistic weapon and the ability to shoot it instead of just making noise or having to pay out your jag hole for the weapon and it's needed extras. The pros: A fun dart gun Good design Real world gun design and firing Good distance (with good darts) The cons: If you aren't carful you can either loose the darts or the shells that holds the darts It can get jammed (but not a real serious problem usually you just have to take out the clip and fix it no big deal) It has bad distance (based on if you have a bad dart. I found this out one day when firing... In fact, I liked the reviews so much I got two of them! Here are my comments: 1) Power: High, travels far and hurts a lot! Springloaded air pushers are typically the worst in power, but this baby must have a very strong spring. The pull is definitely hard enough, though an 8 year old can handle it once he knows how to use his leverage. 2) Accuracy: This all comes down to the dart. You must ensure that the dart is straight, and not an old bent one. The dart has to travel down a barrel and if the dart is bent, it'll rub against the barrel on the way out. If you have a new straight dart, it is very accurate and travels far. 3) Fun factor: OMG, is this thing is so much fun! It is an engineering marvel. When you pull back the lever under the gun it ejects the spent... Read more |
